It's grey overcast day and it is nice sitting here looking out the window as the sun starts to set and muse about...well nothing much but a few day dreams. I was reading a blog written by a high class call girl and thought how boring the things I write about are. Just a few travel notes and pics on my web page. Hers is so well written I really wonder IS she a call girl or a good writer with a good story. Another pretense presence on the Internet...
Don't suppose I will ever find out and it doesn't matter anyway, my chance to be a call girl, high class or otherwise has long passed!

So I guess I will stick to my travels and enjoy the moment. Her job by all accounts took her jet setting around but with certain obligations I don't have to worry about. Black leather, masks, whips, handcuffs etc would be a nightmare to pack in this day and age of airport security!!

When I was travelling up North of West Aust on a Greyhound bus, I got talking to two young girls, one was going up to work in a hospital as a nurse and the other was a skimpy working the hotels. On this occasion the skimpy won out because the nurse had to provide her uniform, get terrible pay and find accommodation. The little skimpy on the other hand bought her uniform of g-string and bras or tassels from Target, had huge pay and accommodation provided. Guess there are pros and cons to everything...pun intended!

When a friend of mine was in her teens, she thought being a pro would be the cushiest job around..until she got married!! Now she says she wouldn't contemplate it for quids.

On another thought tack, I think google's writely will come in handy on my travels, can make notes on the Internet along the way in Internet cafes and save them until I get home and sort them out. I usually forget what I was talking about when jotting something on a pad in haste.

I watched Steve Irwins Memorial Service held at his zoo, it was very poignant, and an excellent tribute to a great Australian. I liked the touch of laying the wreaths to spell out the word "CRICKEY".

From dawn to dusk we travelled through Kruger in the "Granny Wagon" which holds nine people and has graduated seating so everybody gets a good view. The sides are open and the driver is seated below the passengers. Our moments ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous, sublime when we dozed off after our sumptuous breakfast provided in the bush as a banquet and ridiculous when we panicked, well, most of us, at a charging elephant. I have since found out that most people seem to have that honour!

We saw four of the big five, missed out on the leopard even though we had very good animal spotters, in fact if it wasn't for them the only thing I would have seen were the Impalas and baboons, I'm not known for being very observant!

The baboons were playing on the road and the little ones put on quite a show with their antics. The herds of elephants were impressive but I went off them after a lone bull elephant charged at us down the road for quite some time, he stopped now and then to pull out the odd tree but kept up his pursuit while we were reversing down the road trying to push the bank up of cars that were behind us out of the way.

It was quite something to see all the wild animals in their natural habitat and where we were accommodated there was a lookout bar on the river and we watched the hippos playing in the river and crocs basking in the sun.

Coming across a rhino munching away a few feet from us on the road was pretty awesome. Although he seemed quiet and content for which I was very grateful.

The bird life was phenomenal, such a huge variety in many beautiful colour's, a mamba snake also crossed our paths and we saw a community spider web which was massive.

Of course seeing the big cats was a highlight and we came across a male lion lying on the side of the road just a few minutes after the elephant incident, so my hand was too shaky to take a photo of it which I regret now as he was just a few feet away from our vehicle which the driver stopped and switched off. Of course this did nothing for my bravery, sitting in an open vehicle. The driver said to stay seated and don't look him in the eye..as if!! As it turned out he just yawned and turned over enjoying the sun.

When we returned back to the resort for the night our tales got bigger and better as the night wore on. We did it all again the next afternoon and into the night with spot lights, we weren't fortunate enough to see that elusive leopard but having found out he is a nocturnal hunter I didn't mind too much!

A wonderful barbecue was put on for us in the bush and we were able to try some of the game like Kudu.

How these guys manage to cook everything so wonderfully and have tables and chairs set up along with the food and drinks in the middle of nowhere is quite impressive. We were so spoilt!
