Waterfall at the foot of Adelaide Hills-back to Australia-

Adelaide

September 2001: My trip over east took me to South Australia first then I flew to Sydney and on to Brisbane. It was nearly a month with a heap of things to see. I did trips to the Barossa valley where sampling the wine is a terrific pastime and the scenery is beautiful. Went to national Parks, explored the cities and didn't take enough photos when I was too busy enjoying the environment.A cruise up the Murray River on the paddle boat "Proud Mary" wa a great day out.

Adelaide has a terrific website for choosing your sightseeing in advance and planning your days. Adelaide has something for everybody from the beautiful architecture and galleries of North Terrace, to the Adelaide Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the fresh produce of the Central Markets to the great eating-places of Rundle Street, Gouger Street and Melbourne Street. The free city bus will take you to all these spots. The Central markets are huge and you need some time to get around. Other landmarks include the University of Adelaide, Parliament House, Government House, and two cathedrals.Mall

The Barossa Valley is a must if you enjoy wines, it is one of Australia's famous wine valley's, I did the tour by bus because I had no desire to drive when I wanted to drink and enjoy the scenery. A drive through the Adelaide Hills is another scenic trip to enjoy a day out. The region is also a premier wine region within Australia and also one of the oldest.

Adelaide is much like my home city Perth, like a large laid back country town and is a joy to visit. The Mall has these sculptures known by the locals as "Malls Balls".Send this photo as a postcard
