Baja
Peninsular
We called into this gorgeous hotel where King Edward met Mrs Simpson,
or so the story goes. It's a very romantic hotel but Mrs Wallace denied
meeting him at the Hotel del Coronado according to the San Diego History.
The photos are in the gallery. We moved
down to Tijuana, did some duty free and cruised on down the Baja Peninsular.
What a great time we had, of course I had to
be picked to whack the pinata blindfolded, which they kept moving but
eventually it broke and the stampede was on to grab all the sweets,
nearly got trampled in the rush! The band played everything but waltzing
matilda and we had our fill of margaritas. The little place we stopped
at on the way had a sign that translated into "please
don't piss on the roses" which seems to be what this man is doing
but it would have been hard going anyway as I didn't see too many! The
Mexican people we came in contact with were fun loving and irresistibly
charming and made our trip there so enjoyable. I think I could honestly
say I tasted the best steak here, it melted in the mouth.
We
did spend some time shopping in Tijuana a wonderful shopping spree place
where I bought a few exceptional momentos.
San Phillipe was a lovely coastal town where we had a great party with all the crew and a few hangovers. It was here we first saw recycled sandals from tyres, I guarantee they would last forever!
After Mexico
we called in to see Montezuma's Castle, the caves in the cliff. Quite
a feat. The photo shows the cliff and the last one shows what we expected
to see. (gallery) Now we were on our way to Sedona and the Grand Canyon,
the real highlight for me.
