EGYPTIAN
WONDERS
Photo Gallery and postcards
Egypt is a fascinating country and shouldn't be missed.
It took us a while to decide to go there as it was a bit of a hot spot
but the security was high and once there didn't give it another thought.
We travelled with a small group and had a great time.We had an overnight
trip on the train from Cairo to Aswan.
This is most peoples favourite and it doesn't disappoint. We stayed
at the Cleopatra Hotel which was comfortable.then boarded a boat to
do a 4 night cruise along the Nile to Luxor. Very relaxing and a lot
of fun. We had the usual dress up night which went into the small hours
with a few hangovers the next day.No spirits were allowed to be bought
on board, only beer could be bought which was a pain but we girls took
bottles of vodka and put it in a water drinking bottle and ordered the
orange juice.Of course we were rumbled as we got merrier! Find
the best deal, compare prices and read what other travelers have to
say about hotels in Egypt.
Luxor was one of my favourite places with plenty to
do and see. The historic sites and markets were something to remember
forever. We travelled by every means from horse and carriage, train,
donkeys, camels and taxi's and feluccas We travelled to the Valley of
the Kings on donkeys, leaving early in the morning and was worth every
bony jolt..Nothing really can describe the enjoyment of Egypt it is
to be experienced.
The people are overwhelmingly friendly and hibiscus tea is served on
every occasion, whether it be waiting in a shop while they run around
trying to find what you want, or a social invitation.
After Luxor we travelled back to Cairo by train, then went on to Dahab
to spend a week of relaxation. We travelled through the desert and it
was night before we got to our destination. Interestingly the drivers
switch of the lights when travelling at night, not sure why..While we
were at Dahab my friend and I took a trip to a bedouin camp over the
mountains by camel. We were treated like royalty and was invited into
a family's camp for a cup of tea after a sumptuous lunch.
Regrettably we said goodbye to Dahab and went back to Cairo for another
week to do the things we missed out on the first time. While we were
visiting the Egyptian Museum, a school class took a shine to us and
we were bombarded with questions and hand holding. This is the part
of travelling I love!
We spent a month in Egypt without one dull moment.
