Fremantle
Fremantle deserves a mention in our travels, even though it is only three hours away from us. It is my favourite place in the world so far. Laid back with cafe strips and cosmopolitan culture it has a wonderful historic look and very picturesque. A combination of Italian, Portuguese, Asian and Australian cultures blended together with great success. .
If you visit Perth, don't miss out on seeing Fremantle, it is only 12 km out and is our port city. A train ride from Perth is less than $4.00aud. It is small enough to walk around to see the sights and the fishermans wharf is a great place to get fresh seafood. Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour is located about 20 kilometres along the Swan River from Perth, Fishing Boat Harbour is home to more than 400 fishing boats and surrounded by boardwalks, restaurants, cafes, bars and entertainment. Call the Visitor Centre on (08) 9431 7878. Visit www.fremantle.wa.gov.au.
The city is popular with diners, catering for all tastes and budgets. Italian and Asian cuisine is abundant as well as a vast variety of seafood restaurants. There are numerous cafes and coffee shops situated around Fremantle, particularly on its famous 'Cappuccino Strip,'(a small section of South Terrace, down towards Market St.) Fremantle is a popular place for its nightlife, second only to Northbridge in Perth's CBD. It attracts people from all over the metropolitan region for its pubs, bars and nightclubs.
The Fremantle Markets are a tourist attraction, located in the centre
of Fremantle on its "Cappuccino Strip" (so named because of
the abundance of restaurants and cafes).

For beer lovers Little Creatures unique brewery is on Fremantle’s Fishing Boat Harbour and takes its name from the ‘little creatures’ (or yeast) that goes into making its award-winning brews. The Pale Ale is a must-try. An on-site restaurant and bar also serves local nibbles every day from 10am till midnight. 40 Mews Road, Fremantle Call (08) 9430 5155 Visit www.littlecreatures.com.au.
I hope you will get the chance to visit our
beautiful State of Western Australia for there is so much to see, but
keeping in mind a lot of distance between areas.
The Fishing Harbour is great for fish and chips
