Los
Angeles
We arrived back in Los Angeles to spend another week exploring.Talking about famous, we did a tour around and were lucky enough to see Eddie Murphy making Beverly Hills Cop 3.We got to talk to some of the extras who were carrying around exclusive but empty bags for the street scene.
We called in to "Rippleys Believe it or not" and the wax museum, Mann's Chinese Theatre, Universal Studios and of course Disneyland -twice!
Univeral Studio tour
we spent a day at Universal Studios and we weren't
disapointed. Back to the Future, Phsyco House, Jaws, Earthquake,
Flash
Flood ET all made us kids again. U
Tube has this video which pretty much covers it all.
A walk down Rodeo Drive
The stretch of shops and boutiques on Rodeo Drive
is only three blocks long. It begins at Wilshire Boulevard on the south,
and runs north to Santa Monica Boulevard, where the commercial section
of the street gives way to an affluent residential neighborhood. But those
three short blocks constitute the most famous shopping district in America,
and probably the most expensive three blocks of shops in the world. We
did purchase some things but entirely within our budget and much to our
disappointment didn't see any stars shopping.
Olvera
Street
This cobblestone street,
which is a block-long cornucopia of traditional clothing and accessories,
Mexican art, giftwares, leather goods, novelties and restaurants. There
is also a Visitors Center where tourists can appreciate the complimentary
screening of a film which depicts early life in Los Angeles. Olvera Street
was created in the '30s and comprises the area known as the El Pueblo
de Los Angeles Historic Monument, which is the site of the city's beginnings.
Free tours are also given to the public by the Las Angelinas, a non-profit
organization.
