San Diego gallery and postcards
San
Diego
California, Arizona and Nevada
Colourful uSA from San Diego to the painted desert areas to the lights
of Las Vegas. We also ventured to St Philippe in the Baja peninsular
Mexico. It was a wonderful adventure. San
Diego was my favourite, the food was delicious, accommodation fabulous
(not that usually worries me, but it added to splendor of the city).
We also went into old San Diego town and enjoyed the old buildings.
We were able to order our first "easy over" eggs, just always
wanted to say it. lol
We visited the Marina and looked over the old ship in the harbour and had a wander through the old town, which was fascinating. Did a bit of shopping in the city and had the biggest "ham on rye" I had ever laid eyes on, made our vegemite sandwiches look pretty lean! San Diego rated as one of my favourite places and one I wouldn't mind going back to and exploring a lot more. We had the chance to visit the zoo but didn't take it up being a little weary after our flight.
We stopped to see the Capistrano Mission before reaching San Diego.
Once established, the mission prospered almost from the start. Between
the founding and 1797, a number of adobe buildings were erected. In
1777, the first little church was built, a modest structure that is
still in use today. Considered the oldest church in California, it
is called "Serra Chapel" because it is the only building
still standing where Fr. Serra had said Mass. The story of the swallows
