Southwest Gallery and postcards
Denmark,
Walpole, Pemperton, Tall timber country
After Easter my friend and I went for a drive down to the Southwest of WA and re discovered the green and lush countryside of the South . We stayed opposite the Denmark River at the Riverside Hotel/Motel. The river had the little paddleboats which we went on and peddled our way up and down the allocated area, with gusto, not to be outdone by the kids peddling away furiously.
Surprisingly, we found a mobile lady Massuer who came to the hotel and gave us an aroma therapy massage so badly needed after walking up the hills which we aren't used to! The Tree top walk just out of Walpole is 40 metres high and is a suspension bridge so it swayed quite a bit but an absolute fascinating view from the tree tops. The huge tingle tree is called grandma tingle, she is around 400 years old and you can see her face in the trunk.
The Alpaca
farm, along with quite a few other animals was next on the list. The
farm has has the one and only
bison
in WA. All animals can be fed and patted and the whole layout is excellent.
At Pemperton we went to the national park to see the Glouscester tree,
which is used as a lookout for bushfires. It has spikes on the side
of it all the way up to the platform at the top to climb, in the photo
there are three people climbing it and i'm not one of them!! Next to
the tree is a bush walk and all the birds come to greet you.
The park keeps a pkt of seed handy and they will come and eat out of your hand as you can see in the photo.
