Precise Switzerland
Switzerland is a relatively small country with an area of 41,285 square kilometres (15,940 sq mi), The population is about 7.4 million, resulting in a population density of 182 people per square kilometre (472/sq mi). Switzerland is at the crossroads of the continent. It is a focal point of international air, road and rail traffic and easily accessible within hours from major European cities and centre's.
Our venture into switzerland took us through the country into Italy. The few days we had there weren't enough of course, but better to see what we did than miss out altogether. We went on top of our first mountain and saw snow for the first time which inevitably ended in a very furious snow fight. The blue glacier tunnel on Mt Titmus was incredible as was the three tier cable car ride to the top.Of course we saw much more than snow and ice but to us, coming from dry Western Australia it was the most exciting.
The Swiss views are a sight for sore eyes no matter where we went and
the hospitality was very warm. The world of the Swiss Alps is a world
of wild beauty. Lake Lugano was serene and a wonderful way to fill an
afternoon cruising on it. A night out in an entertainment hall had us
well entertained where large mugs of beer (shades of germany's october
fest) were consumed, within reason of course. I bought a couple of swiss
knives which were a must for the boys in the family. I don't suppose
I will ever get back to Switzerland but my time there was well spent
and the scenery and architecture were stunning.
