Sydney

September 2004: We visited Sydney again for a few days and crammed as much as possible in, in that time. We used every mode of transport on the beautiful harbour ranging from harbour cruises, ferries, water taxi and catamaran. We initially went to see the John Edward show (the psychic) at the Superdome at Homebush, where the Olympic games were held, and stayed at the Novotel.

We then transferred to Darling Harbour to do the sightseeing and stayed at the Holiday Inn, formerly the Furama Hotel which is central to Paddy's Markets, the monorail "loop" George Street, Darling Harbour There’s always something ‘happening’ at Darling Harbour. Transformed in the 1980s from a derelict dockyard into one of the world’s great waterfront destinations, this amazing place is ‘a must see’ for visitors and a favourite playground for Sydneysiders and their guests, Imax, Aquarium and China Town.

The highlight of our visit was the Sydney Showboat which consisted of a night harbour cruise, dinner and cabaret. The weather was bit variable this time and we had a couple of wet days but it didn't dampen our enthusiasm.

Sydney offers quite a bit to the tourist, even ghost tours around in hearses by Destiny Tours and others. Climb the Harbour Bridge - but not for me!

I went to Jervis Bay by coach to go dolphin and with luck whale watching, but the wildlife wasn't kind that day, no whales to be seen and only a few dolphins but the cruise around the bay was very enjoyable. We had lunch on board and cruised around for about 3 hours. We then went home via a national park where there was the most gorgeous waterfall. We got a glimpse of a platypus as well, amidst the incredible scenery.
